Convert UIF to ISO free on Windows & Mac
Universal Image Format (also referred to by the abbreviation of the name, UIF) is a powerful CD/DVD image format, which provides far more secured disk images than those in other formats. UIF supports strong encryption and password protection, ensuring security of disk images containing sensitive data. Another advantage that UIF files clearly have over other disk image formats is the relatively smaller file size. UIF utilizes a superb compression technology that reduces the files to a good extent than files in other formats.
Besides, UIF provides complete support for MD5 checksum technology, which prevents disk images from getting corrupted. If that was not enough, UIF also supports backup and restoration of multisession CD/DVDs. However, in spite of having a plethora of advantages, UIF files are still not supported by most virtual drive managers available. Presently, this file extension is solely supported by one virtual drive manager, the MagicISO™. Also, the file format is only compatible with the Microsoft™ Windows operating system.
If you wish to open a UIF file on your PC, you must have MagicISO™ installed on your PC and your operating system must be Windows. However, even if you do not have the Windows operating system on your PC, you can still access the UIF file by first converting it to ISO format.
In order to convert the UIF file to ISO, you will need to have MagicISO™ Trial Version installed in your PC. Once you have done that, follow the steps given below:
- Open MagicISO™. Click on “Tools”, and then on “Decompress UIF Image”.
- Choose and open the source file.
- Choose the destination where the converted file will be saved.
- Click on the “Decompress” button.
- The UIF file will be converted to the ISO format and will be saved in the destination location that you selected in Step 3.
- Once the file has been converted to ISO format, you can mount it using any virtual disk manager software, or burn it on a CD/DVD.
This procedure is valid only for Windows PCs. If you own a Macintosh computer, you will not be able to use MagicISO™. For Macs, you will need to download a tool called UIF2ISO. This tool provides drag and drop functionality, which means you can simply drop the UIF file on the tool to get it converted to ISO. You can also use the UIF2ISO GUI tool convert UIF files stored in your Mac to ISO files. Once the conversion is over, you can mount the ISO with a virtual drive manager and access it. Otherwise, you can simply burn it on a disk for future use.
