We have assembled some of the most important events, going back as early as 150 BCE, in technological milestones covering everything from the first mechanical calendar whose origins are still shrouded in mystery, to eco-conscious setups and server farms big enough to challenge the keenest Farmville fanatic.

The track is ready for you to conquer as we circle round the world visiting some of the biggest venues in Olympic history and the mark they have left on this important sporting event.
