The Elantech Smart-Pad is a hand-held device, which has various uses among them the capture of drawing and notes, which are handwritten on a normal piece of paper and loads them on to the hand-held device. This device is capable of organizing drawings, diagrams and notes that have palm applications. The device has a SmartPad pen, which is specifically designed for communication through the Smart-Pad device that uses an infrared transmitter. This Smart-Pad pen has a combination of a ballpoint pen tip and a stylus tip for writing and for the Palm device respectively. This device saves the notes as GIF or BPM files and then e-mails these files from the desktop PC. The Elantech Smart-Pad utilizes its palm applications to save drawings, notes, and maps on the Palm applications, any of the four available. The resolutions of the notes saved in the Smart-Pad are 72 dpi. This Elantech Smart-Pad is compatible with the Palm III or later plus other handheld Palm devices, which use Palm OS 3.1 or higher. This Smart-Pad is compatible with the IBM-Pentium processor or its equivalent operating on Windows 95 or later versions of the operating system. This Elantech Smart-Pad uses only 16 MB of hard disk space and 16 MB or more of the resources or memory. This device uses two batteries of “Triple A” (AAA) for power transmission and the pen has one AAAA battery installed. Other items are a Smart-Pad Pen refill cartridge containing five refills, installation software for the Palm and the PC on a CD-ROM, paper pads and a user manual.
