The HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series Tape Library offers topnotch cartridge and drive density. This tape library provides users with 14.2 LTO2 terabytes of storage per square foot. It is fully integrated into the HP StorageWorks Extended Tape Library Architecture (ETLA). The ESL E-Series libraries and ETLA offer users with enterprise storage network reliability, interoperability and advanced functionality. ETLA eases the complexities of integrating into SAN which leads to decreased errors in configuring, installing and managing the entire system of SAN. ETLA also offers management features of the entire system like obtrusive management and control including robotics, drives, Interface Manager card and Interface Controllers. This device's ETLA based libraries are self managed, automatically maintained and self aware to aid the user in maintaining and monitoring the whole library.

The HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series Tape Library offers users an advanced encryption level or safety that comes with compression for secure backup data privacy. In one cabinet, the ESL E-Series contains 322 to 712 LTO cartridges which have the ability to scale up to 24 drives. The ESL E-Series has the ability to manage a single library with up to 44 tape drives. It also has the ability to support a mixture of LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 Fibre Channel, LTO-3 Ultrium 960 Fibre Channel and SDLT 600 tape technology.
