QuaTron FM33.6 is designed to provide the services of a data, fax and external modem as one device. Based on the use of Ethernet, this device enables one to send and receive documents on the computer as fax. It can transmit and receive fax documents from a fax machine as well as a fax modem. The device uses Cirrus Logic as the chip set and operates at a maximum data rate of 14.4 Kbps and a maximum fax rate of about 14.4 Kbps. It falls under fax class 1 and uses an 8 – bit ISA Data Bus. Its data modulation protocol is ITU-T V .21, V.22, V.22bis, V.32, V.32bis whereas its fax modulation protocol is ITU-T V. 17, V.21CH2, V.27ter, V.29. It is also fitted with software that supports the functions of a telephone answering machine. It enables one to record and play to the wave device.

The device uses Silicon Laboratories proprietary Direct Access Arrangement which offers a telephone line interface that has an unparalleled level of integration which can be programmed globally.
