The RV100 is a graphics chip manufactured by ATI Technologies but whose drivers are manufactured by Magic Pro Corporation. The chip supports monitors to produce high quality displays that have distinct clarity and radiance. The RV100 chip enhances 3D acceleration capabilities and is based on both OpenGL 1.3 and Direct3D 7.0 applications. These are major improvements with reference to other display chips that have close resemblance to the RV100 chip. The chip has other unique features including video acceleration, two-dimensional GUI acceleration and a multiplicity of display outputs. The chip’s drivers are designed to be compatible with the latest versions of Windows, that is Windows XP and Windows Vista. ATI Technologies recommends that the RV100 chip be used with the latest version of drivers in order to maintain its functionality. Additionally, the drivers have to be updated monthly in order to ensure that their performance matches the changing aspects of hardware and software.

The following is a description for the procedure used in downloading and installing the RV100 drivers. The drivers are downloaded by visiting the download site, which is indicated by the URL shown on the top section of this page. The file in a zipped format which cannot be installed directly. Therefore, it has to be unzipped when it is stored onto the computer. The RV100 is then connected onto the computer. To begin installation of the driver file, the user right clicks the My Computer icon and chooses Properties. From Properties, there is an option to select the Hardware tab. This leads to the Device Manager dialog box from which the user selects the RV100 drivers and clicks Install to launch the process.
