How to Find Temporary Internet Files
Level of difficulty: EasyTemporary Internet Files are traces of your Internet activities. It can both work to your advantage and disadvantage. Since Temporary Internet Files are records of your visited web page, it would be faster to load similar website the next time around. The disadvantage of these files is that it gives away your Internet habits and whereabouts.
Materials Needed:
- Windows XP
- Internet Explorer 6.0/Internet Explorer 7.0/Internet Explorer 8.0
- Internet Explorer 6.0/Internet Explorer 7.0/Internet Explorer 8.0
Step 1
To check your Temporary Internet Files you may follow these steps. Close all active Internet Explorer windows. After closing all Internet Explorer application click on the Start Menu, which is on the left most part of the taskbar. You may also access the Start Menu by pressing the windows key provided on your keyboard.
Step 2
Select Control Panel from the Start Menu.
Step 3
Find the Internet Options from the Control Panel and click on it. This will direct you to the Internet Properties window.
Step 4
Go to the General tab of Internet Properties and select the Setting button provided for the Temporary Internet Files. You will then be directed to the Setting’s window. If you are using Internet Explorer version 7.0 or Internet Explorer 8.0, go to the settings button provided in the Browsing history part of Internet properties window. Temporary Internet Files and History Settings window will pop up on your screen. Select the View files button in this window and you will be directed to the Temporary Internet Files folder where you can see all your accumulated Temporary Internet Files.
Step 5
Finally, click on the view files button to access your Temporary Internet files. Another way to access your temporary Internet Files is to open your Internet Explorer. To access Internet Explorer look for the blue small letter e icon and click it. You may also use the desktop shortcut icon and taskbar Internet Explorer icon to run the said program.
Step 6
Select the Tools menu of the Internet Explorer, which will direct you to a drop down menu. Tools menu is on the left side of the Internet Explorer window.
Step 7
Choose Internet Options from the drop down menu of Tools.
Step 8
Then repeat Steps 4 and 5 and you’re done viewing your Temporary Internet Files. You may also delete your temporary files from here by hitting the Ctrl + A button inside the Temporary Internet Files folder then hit the Delete button.
