Uniblue Systems has been based in Malta since
2003, having identified the Mediterranean island as an excellent
location for companies in the IT sector. The Prime Minister
said that companies like Uniblue have identified Malta's strengths
and made full use of the ability and expertise of Maltese
workers to create a high quality product. Malta can
be a major force in IT, Dr Gonzi added.
Bosse Malmberg, CEO of Uniblue, responded by
saying that for such a small country, Malta has a great deal
to offer the Mediterranean region and setting up a business
there is relatively straightforward and bureaucracy-free. The
other factors that attracted Uniblue to Malta were the excellent
IT infrastructure and the fact that English is an official language.
Malmberg is particularly impressed with Malta's
success in securing the SmartCity project. SmartCity@Malta will
include a new fully-fledged ICT and Media Smart City on the
models developed by Tecom Investments in Dubai. The investment
of over $300 million is a considerable coup for Malta as there
was stiff competition from other Mediterranean countries.
The visit coincided with the launch of the new
ProcessLibrary.com website, an acclaimed, free web service providing
information about the processes running on a computer, which
attracts several million visitors every month.
