A response area, in pixels, specifies the area within which two simultaneous mouse clicks must be performed to be regarded as a double mouse click. If the cursor leaves that area, the operation may not be considered as a double-click.
Level: Recommended For Novice Users
Description:
The mouse double-click operation is done in a specific area. Windows recognizes that you are double-clicking something when the height and width of the response area is known. It will process two mouse clicks as a double-click when maximum allowed distance between each click is specified. The grid area of a file/folder icon is the highest permitted response area for a double-click operation. To define the size of response area, change the values of "doubleclickheight" and "doubleclickwidth" which is in pixels. The higher the value, the greater is the distance permitted to consider two mouse clicks as a double mouse click and vice-versa. By default, the height and width set in the registry is 4 pixels. For this, go to start > run, enter "regedit" and search the registry key listed below. You can create two string values "doubleclickheight" and "doubleclickwidth", if these values do not exist. You can set these values to get your preferred double-click response area. The changes will take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
