This setting disables the recording of an entry into "Recent Documents" option of Start Menu.
Level: Recommended For Novice Users
Description:
This setting does not permit windows to create and display of the shortcuts to recently accessed documents. All the shortcuts in the documents option on the start menu are removed and no new entries are created in win 98. In other operating systems it prevents new shortcuts to be added to the existing list. It does not remove the existing ones. Normally, a document is recorded there, where it is accessed and reviewed easily. System defaults come into the force as soon as this setting is disabled. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. Create a dword value name norecentdocshistory in the right panel, if it does not exist. Right-click it and modify the data value with 1 to enable the setting. Click ok and close the registry editor. Restart the system or logoff to see the changes taking effect. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
