Level: Recommended For Novice Users
Description:
Internet explorer has the built-in functionality to access your emails directly from the browser. If you have configured any e-mail client like outlook/outlook express or access your mails through a web based e-mail program like hotmail, you can launch the program to read/write e-mails when you are in internet explorer. In internet explorer, in the tools menu, there is the item mail and news, which will launch your e-mail program. This registry setting can turn off the feature to access e-mail from internet explorer by disabling the mail and news item. Important: even if you enable the function to access e-mails, all the open internet explorer windows will not show the effect. For this, go to start > run, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value restgomenu at hkey_current_user and hkey_local_machine registry paths, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 1 which can disable the mail and news item from internet explorer. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to 0. Restart internet explorer for the changes to take effect. Note: this feature works on internet explorer version 5 and above. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
