Disable highlighting of newly installed applications in Programs menu.
A newly installed application is shown highlighted until the application is accessed for the first time from the Programs menu. This setting can disable this feature.

Description:
When a new program is installed, an item is added into the start > programs menu list which is highlighted as default feature. The highlighted mark is removed whenever the user accesses the program for the first time. Along with this, all programs button will show a balloon tip saying a new program being installed. To avoid showing the highlighted mark with the newly installed programs, use this registry setting. For this, go to start > run, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value start_notifynewapps, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 1 which can disable highlighting of newly installed applications. However, if you want to enable highlighting again, change the value data to 0 or delete the value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to <b> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \Explorer\]</b>,right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "Start_NotifyNewApps " in "Explorer" key.

Next, right-click on "Start_NotifyNewApps " and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
