The Most Frequent List in new Start menu displays the application names that are regularly used. This setting can disable the shortcut of the application Microsoft Word from appearing in the list.

Windows displays the most frequently accessed programs, in left panel of the new start menu called most frequent list. This list makes the program accessibility comfortable for users. But, with this setting you can disable the shortcut of the application microsoft word in most frequent list of start menu. Winword.exe is the executable program for microsoft word, which is available with the microsoft office suite. It is the most common professional level document application, which provides all the tools for reading and writing. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create a string value nostartpage, if this value does not exists, and leave the data blank. This removes the shortcut to the application. However, if you want to get the application shortcut back in start menu, delete the string value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".
Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Applications\winword.exe\]</b> key, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "NoStartPage".
The created String value will look like below.
