This setting enables you to block executable attachments files in outlook express. This restriction can be applied to protect your system from potential viruses. However, other types of files are allowed to be seen and saved. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value blockexeattachments, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data to 1 which can restrict .exe attachment. However, if you want to show the icons back, change the value to 0 or delete the value. Restart outlook express for the changes to take effect. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\]</b> key, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "BlockExeAttachments".

Third, right-click on the 'BlockExeAttachments' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
