Description:
Codecs are used by windows media player to decode encoded media files (such as mp3, mpeg, wma etc). Like cds and dvds to give the best experience of audio/video albums and internet radio. To avoid automatic download of the available codecs apply the given registry setting. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value preventcodecdownload, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data to 0 which can disable the option to download codecs automatically. However, if you set the value data to 1, codecs download is permitted but changes to the option is disabled. In case you want to remove all restrictions and enable the option to download codec, delete preventcodecdownload value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
