Level: Recommended For Novice Users
Description:
The context menu appears when you right-click in windows explorer or on desktop. There is an option "new", which lets you create various documents, folder and shortcut. A new item like a file type can be added now to the context menu. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the desired applications file extension (like jpeg) registry path. You can create a shellnew subkey and under it the nullfile string value. The created string value should not have any value. However, you can delete subkey shellnew to remove the item from the context menu. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
