Enable font smoothing on the welcome screen (current user)

This setting lets you enable font smoothing on the Welcome screen, where it is normally disabled.

Description:
Windows xp has clear type feature, which makes fonts more readable on lcd and low resolution screens. The anti-aliasing font display technology makes this possible. This feature can be made enabled for individual user or as the default for all users. If you want to change then set the registry entry. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. Then, create a string value name fontsmoothing, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with 2. Now, create a dword value name fontsmoothingtype, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with three options like "0" > disabled "1" > standard type "2" > clear type. Click ok and close the registry editor. After logoff or system restart, changes take effect. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".
Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\]</b> key, right-click on the "FontSmoothing" String value and click on "Modify".
Third, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
Fourth, right-click on the "FontSmoothingType" DWORD value and click on "Modify".
Fifth, enter the value "2" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
