Description:
Indexing service indexes documents and document properties on your disks and stores the information in a catalog. You can use indexing service to search for documents, either through the start menu's search function or through a web browser. It can be accessed from start > control panel > administrative tools > computer management. But, with this setting you can hide this snap-in from computer management console file. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys \mmc\{95ad72f0-44ce-11d0-ae29-00aa004b9986} does not exist, create them as explained below. Then, create a string value restrict_run in the right panel. Now, right-click and modify its value to 1 which can disable snap-in. However, if you want to enable back the snap-in, delete the subkey {95ad72f0-44ce-11d0-ae29-00aa004b9986}. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to <b>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\]</b>, key and create a new key with the name "MMC" under "Microsoft".

Then, create a "{95AD72F0-44CE-11D0-AE29-00AA004B9986}" key under "MMC".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "Restrict_Run" in "{95AD72F0-44CE-11D0-AE29-00AA004B9986}" key.

Next, right-click on "Restrict_Run" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as '1' and click 'OK'.
