Specify the View of the Contents in User Defined Folders in Places Bar
Places Bar is placed at the left side of Microsoft Office Open/Save dialog to allow the user fast access to History, Desktop, My Documents etc. This setting enables you to specify the view of the content of user defined folders for the Places Bar in MS Office XP, depending on whether you want to look in Thumbnails view, List view, Details view, or Summary view.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\Open Find\Places\UserDefinedPlaces\PlaceN]</b> key, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "View".

Third, right-click on the 'View' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the view_code value in the text box and click on 'OK'.
