Hide the System Folder Desktop in the Places Bar
Places Bar is placed at the left side of Microsoft Office Open/Save dialog to allow the user fast access to History, Desktop, My Documents etc. This setting enables you to hide the system folder Desktop.

Description: Places bar is placed at the left side of microsoft office open/save dialog to allow the user fast access to history, desktop, my documents etc. This setting enables you to hide the system folder desktop. By default, the system folder desktop is shown in the places bar. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value show, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 0 which can hide the system folder desktop in the places bar. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to 1.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit". |

Go to <b>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0 \Common\Open Find\Places\StandardPlaces\Desktop\]</b>,right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "Show" in "Desktop" key. |

Next, right-click on "Show" and click on 'Modify'. |

Finally, enter the value "0" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'. Once you are done. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect. |
