Hide the System Folder MyComputer in the Places Bar in MS Office 2003
Places Bar is placed at the left side of Microsoft Office Open/Save dialog to allow the user fast access to History, Desktop, My Documents etc. This setting enables you to hide the system folder MyComputer.

Places bar is placed at the left side of microsoft office open/save dialog to allow the user fast access to history, desktop, my documents etc. This setting enables you to hide the system folder mycomputer. By default, the system folder mycomputer is shown in the places bar. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value show, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 0 which can hide the system folder mycomputer in the places bar. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to 1 or delete the value. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Go to <b> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Open Find\Places\StandardPlaces\MyComputer\]</b>,right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name 'Show' in 'Favorites' key.

Now, right click on the DWORD value 'Show' and select 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as '0' to hide 'My Computer' from the Places Bar in MS Office 2003.
