Remove Active Desktop item from Settings in the Start menu (For All Users in Win 98/Me).
This setting enables you to remove the menu item Active Desktop from Settings in the Start menu.

Description: If you go to start > settings menu, you will see a menu item called active desktop in the sub-menu. Active desktop component is installed with internet explorer 5. This setting enables you to remove this menu item. For this, go to start > run menu, enter "regedit" and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value "nosetactivedesktop", if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 1 which can remove the menu item "active desktop". However, if you want to show the item back, change the value to 0 or delete the value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. Note: the restrictions will apply on all user accounts created on your system.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit". |

Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\]</b> key, right-click in the open area to create a new DWORD value with the name "NoSetActiveDesktop". |

Third, right-click on the "NoSetActiveDesktop" DWORD value and click on 'Modify'. |

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'. |
