Remove Active Desktop item from Settings in the Start menu (For All Users in Win 98/Me).
This setting enables you to remove the menu item Active Desktop from Settings in the Start menu.

Description:
If you go to start > settings menu, you will see a menu item called active desktop in the sub-menu. Active desktop component is installed with internet explorer 5. This setting enables you to remove this menu item. For this, go to start > run menu, enter "regedit" and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a dword value "nosetactivedesktop", if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 1 which can remove the menu item "active desktop". However, if you want to show the item back, change the value to 0 or delete the value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. Note: the restrictions will apply on all user accounts created on your system. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\]</b> key, right-click in the open area to create a new DWORD value with the name "NoSetActiveDesktop".

Third, right-click on the "NoSetActiveDesktop" DWORD value and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
