Control panel is a repository of various applets/administrative tools that can be used to configure the windows, applications, and services environment. If you go to start > settings menu and select control panel, windows will open the control panel window. This setting can prevent access to user identification details on network using network system icon in the current applets list displayed in the control panel. It hides the identification tab from the network dialog box. Windows uses information in identification tab to identify your computer on network. It uses information like computer name and workgroup to recognize your computer. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey \network does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a dword value nonetsetupidpage in the right panel. Now, right-click and modify its values to 1 which can prevent access to user identification details on network. However, if you want to enable the option back, change the value data to 0 or delete the added values. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.
