Clear Past Icons from the Tray Notification Area
This tweak allows you to clear the Past Items list in the customized notifications area of the systray.

Description:
Windows xp neatly hides the icons in the notification area, when they become inactive. You are also given the option to either permanently hide or display the icon. But the past icons can be displayed if the taskbar is right-clicked and then properties option is selected. Now, come to notifications area section, and click customize button (not in windows xp). Windows xp hides icons in the notification area, when they become inactive. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey, traynotify, does not exist, create as described below. Now, check for binary value name, iconstreams in the right panel and delete it. Check for another binary value name, pasticonstreams in the right panel and delete it. Open task manager > processes tab > explorer.exe > end process. In task manager > file > new task > explorer > ok. Click ok and close the registry editor. After logoff or system restart, changes take effect. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the <b>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify\]</b> key, right-click on the "IconStreams" Binary key and click on "Delete".

Finally, right-click on the "PastIconsStream" Binary key and click on "Delete".
