Description:
Power settings are combination of hardware and system settings that can help you maximize your computers performance or conserve energy. Computer-specific energy consumption can be managed by configuring different power settings. This tweak allows you to specify the computer-specific power settings so that predefined power management settings can be used. For example, a laptop may consume high energy compared to a desktop. When attempting to create and save power schemes in windows, the schemes may appear to save correctly but not show up the next time the "power options properties" dialog box is opened. Additionally, some default schemes may not show up in the power schemes list. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry paths listed below. Right-click on the string value currentpowerpolicy and modify the data value with one of the following values, as required, at both registry paths: <table><tr><td><center>power code</td><td><center>computer type</td></tr><tr><td><center>0</td><td><center>desktop pc</td></tr><tr><td><center>1</td><td><center>laptop computer</td></tr><tr><td><center>2</td><td><center>monitor for presentations</td></tr><tr><td><center>3</td><td><center>network computer</td></tr><tr><td><center>4</td><td><center>optimized for high performance</td></tr><tr><td><center>5</td><td><center>optimized for power saving</td></tr></table> the changes take effect after a restart or logoff. Note: setting default settings for all new users can only be application in windows 98/me, other operating systems ignore the value under hkey_users.
