Click here to run a free scan for registry errors
This tweak can show the default HTML Editor icon on Internet Explorer toolbar, even when the HTML file is created using various Microsoft Office applications.
Level: Recommended For Novice Users
Internet explorer normally attempts to detect the program in originally created html document and modify the edit option to use the same program for future editing. Say, if a html file is created using microsoft excel, and when accessing the file in internet explorer, the edit with microsoft excel option in the toolbar will open the file in microsoft excel. But, if you prefer to use the default html editor, like microsoft frontpage, when editing the file, change the given setting in the registry. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a string value checkdocumentforprogid in the right panel, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify its value to no which can use default html editor in internet explorer. However, if you want html files to open in program originally created, change the value data to yes or delete the added value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.
Second, go to <b> [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\] </b> and create a Sting value 'CheckDocumentForProgID'.
Now, right click on the String value as 'CheckDocumentForProgID' and select 'Modify'.
Finally, set the value data as 'no' and click 'OK'.
