Display FTP sites contents in an HTML based layout.
This tweak controls the mode Internet Explorer uses for displaying FTP sites contents in an HTML based layout.
Level: Recommended For Experts Only
Description:
Normally, windows uses port 21 for ftp transfer, but when the programs pick up the port settings from the system then http port 80 will have to be used. Web based ftp allows internet explorer to connect to the regular ftp port and gets whatever directory listing you require. It provides the html page with the proper links automatically and displays it. This means, the folder view for the ftp sites is disabled, ftp sites will display their contents in an html-based layout. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the string value name, use web based ftp in the right panel, with yes to display ftp contents and no to disable it. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
