This setting enables you to hide the "My Documents" from the desktop.

Description:
My documents icon lets you save your valuable text files, reports, images, music, picture files. When it is displayed, you can decide whether this icon should appear first or not. New start menu makes this icon appear if it is frequently used one. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey \shellfolder does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a dword value attributes in the right panel. Now, right-click and modify its value to f0500174 which can hide the icon. However, if you want to show the icon back, change the value data to 0 or delete the added value. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".
Go to <b>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}\]</b> key and create a new key with the name "ShellFolder" under "{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}".
Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "Attributes" in "ShellFolder" key.
Next, right-click on "Attributes" and click on 'Modify'.
Finally, enter the value "f0500174" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
