Turn-off Sidebar on desktop.
This tweak can turn-off the new Sidebar feature of desktop.
Level: Recommended For Novice Users
Description:
Microsoft has introduced yet another feature in windows vista, the sidebar on desktop. Sidebar has the ability to make use of gadgets, which are small applets that may display information or utilities to the user. As the sidebar covers space on your desktop and if you cant make the good use of this feature, you can opt to turn it off. For this, go to start > run menu, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys \windows\sidebar does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a dword value turnoffsidebar in the right panel, and change its value to 1. However, if you want to turn-on the sidebar, change the value to 0. The changes take effect after a restart or logoff. When editing the registry it is highly recommended to run a quick scan for optimization, you can test your system now for free.
