FAT 32 - Term Description

What is: FAT 32

Description:
A more recent version of the FAT (file allocation table) file storage system. FAT 32 enhancements include accessing two terabytes, or 2000 GB, on a hard drive. FAT 32 uses space more efficiently, with smaller clusters, resulting in 10 to 15% more efficient use of disk space relative to large FAT drives. FAT 32 drives are less susceptible to a single point of failure than FAT volumes. FAT 32 is more flexible, allowing for dynamic resizing of FAT 32 partitions on hard drives. FAT 32 provides up to 28% more space than FAT 16.
