logical sector - Term Description

What is: logical sector

Description:
A collection of data stored together or the lowest unit of space that the operating system can access through a device driver. Logical sectors can be one or more physical sectors. This means that a single file can be divided into many pieces scattered across a disk. The logical sector represents how the data appears to be stored to the user, not the physical location of the data stored on the hard drive.
