Backing Up Your
Outlook Emails
If you have Microsoft Office installed on your
computer you probably have Microsoft Outlook as well. This email
software, which is one of the most commonly used email clients,
includes a large number of features and is relatively easy to
use. There is one task in Outlook though, that is not very easy
to perform. Outlook, like many other email programs, stores
all your emails in a few files located in some folder that is
usually hard to locate. While you could backup your Outlook
emails manually by searching for the Outlook folder and including
those files in the backup, this is rather time consuming, especially
on a system with more than one user account. To make the situation
even worse, backup operations often fail when Outlook is running
because the email files are locked.
Email Backups Made Easy
The easiest way to locate your email storage folder is to search
for .pst files, which are used by Outlook to store your emails.
After locating these files, you can add them to a backup manually.
WinBackup provides a much more efficient solution by listing
all users who are using Outlook and by providing a shortcut
that allows you to back up everything with just a few clicks,
including your Outlook emails, address books, and Internet Favorites.
WinBackup can also stop Outlook before the backup operation
starts, which prevents Outlook from locking your email files.
This unique feature makes it possible to backup Outlook emails
in scheduled backup jobs and will make your backups run smoothly
without any file sharing problems. If you send and receive a
lot of attachments, your email folders are usually quite large.
WinBackup solves this problem by using efficient compression
techniques to reduce the size of backups on-the-fly. WinBackup
can also backup your emails and data directly to CD or DVD and
comes with built-in 256- or 128-bit encryption for maximum security
