If SpyEraser states that new updates have been downloaded but after the program restarts the System Overview still reports that you are using older definitions please follow these steps:
Close SpyEraser. If it is still running in the tray area, right-click on its icon and click on "Exit SpyEraser".
Open the following folder* in windows explorer:
C:\Documents and Settings\your user account\Application Data\Uniblue\SpyEraser
Delete the following three files from the above folder:
-> Database.db, (and database.db1 if it exists)
-> Config.dat
-> Update.ini
Relaunch SpyEraser from the Start menu and click on "Update". If the program seems to be initially unresponsive for a few seconds it is probably because you have the automatic updater on and is already downloading the updates.
If SpyEraser states that new definitions have been downloaded, it will prompt you to restart itself. Once it restarts you should see that you are using more recent spyware definitions.
* Your system may be configured not to show certain hidden files and folders. If that is the case you can go to Start > Run and paste the folder path (making sure you substitute 'your user account' with the appropriate text.
