The backpack finder is a driver that is used when using external devices such as external hard drives, CD/DVD writers/rewriters and other external backpack devices. Micro solutions backpacks require that users install a backpack finder for the backpacks to function. Once installed the backpack finder will able to automatically detect any external backpack devices attached to the computer. The external device is attached to the CPU via the USB 1.0, 2.0 and parallel ports. If the device is not automatically detected, one can select the backpack device manually by going to the Device Manager. The backpack finder is quite useful when one wants to use devices such as a portable CD or DVD re-writers that are expensive and do not have internal drives. Most computers do not have internal drives for theses devices hence the need to use the backpack finder driver.
