The Broadcom Bluetooth USB device is a standalone, single chip, monolithic baseband processor with an incorporated 2.4 gigahertz transceiver for Bluetooth 1.2 and 1.1 applications. This device is capable eliminating the need for active components and external flash memories by incorporating vital components to itself, therefore effectively minimizing the system cost and footprint of employing a Bluetooth system. This device is the ideal solution for any data and/ or voice applications that needs a Bluetooth standard HCI (host controller interface) through either UART or USB, and interfaces for PCM audio. The Broadcom Bluetooth USB device is founded on the UnPlugFest and production proven architecture of the BBC (Bluetooth baseband core) BMC2033, uPu or microprocessor unit, and PTU or peripheral transport unit. The microprocessor unit is tasked to store the protocol stack that is in the lower level in ROM (read only memory) and patch RAM (random access memory) to deliver optimal flexibility.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
The Broadcom Bluetooth USB device efficiently integrates hardware and software components into a device that presents itself to a host PC as a USB peripheral which allows the mouse or keyboard device to imitate a wired connection. With this device, users can use the Bluetooth enabled mouse and keyboard device during computer boot-up or even in Safe mode. This innovative technology was a joint project by Broadcom and WIDCOMM prior to Broadcom acquiring WIDCOMM and is enabled by rigid incorporation of the WIDCOMM software application with Broadcom’s embedded software and circuit products that are Bluetooth enabled. When used with the WIDCOMM software, the Broadcom Bluetooth USB device also has security features that are built-in for preventing unauthorized devices to connect to use host devices in the event that an association was established. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and Broadcom Bluetooth USB errors before installing any driver updates.
