Built precisely for computer networking, this particular hardware component can be deployed in either a wired or wireless computer network environment. Packaged as a compact printing device it is capable of producing monochrome laser print outs in relatively shorter periods. The device driver of the Brother HL-2170W series allows it to support Ethernet based network interfaces as well as 802.11b/g based wireless technology. This means that this particular hardware component can directly interact with any wireless router based on the supported wireless communication protocols. The built-in 32 MB internal dedicated memory provides the device driver with a faster way of handling and processing print job requests. This internal printer memory also serves as an important feature when handling print requests based on the emulation of the PCL 6 printer language. The result in a greater degree of compatibility is achieved by the supported device based on the final print out.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
The Brother HL-2170W series can also be deployed as a standalone printer hardware component by connecting it to the Universal Serial Bus interface port of the host computer system. The device driver directly communicates with the host operating system platform to support the Plug and Play functionality of newer computing environments. For older operating system environments the device driver allows for backward compatibility in order to successfully deploy the supported hardware component. In operating system platforms which are not inherently supported by its manufacturer, the device driver of the Brother HL-2170W series can be used by third party developers to extend the scope of support. These device driver expansions of course may or may not be legitimately recognized by the manufacturer. In most instances though such activities are covered by Open Licensing which gives the third party developer the right to make use of authentic source codes from the manufacturer. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and Brother HL-2170W series errors before installing any driver updates.
