The Brother HL-5030 series supports conventional paper sizes like A4 and Letter with a corresponding printing speed of up to 16 and 17 printed pages per minute respectively. The printing technology applied by this hardware component is based on the electrophotographic method allowing it to deliver a first page print within 12 seconds. In terms of printing resolution, this type of technology can implement anywhere from 300 up to 600 dots per inch depending on the underlying operating system environment in the host computer system. To support the printing operation of the Brother HL-5030 series, the device driver relies on the functionality of the Fujitsu SPARClite printer processor which runs at 133 MHz. This printer processing power is supported by a built-in 4 MB dedicated memory module for better and faster handling of print task queues. The main interface supported by the device driver is via the high speed version 2.0 of the Universal Serial Bus communication port.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
The controller unit of the Brother HL-5030 series can also handle Graphics Device Interface emulation. This means that since the framework of the Microsoft Windows Operating System environment does not allow the installed software applications to directly interact with the hosted hardware component the commands or instructions must pass through the Graphics Device Interface. In turn the Graphics Device Interface communicates with the device driver of the Brother HL-5030 series in order to execute any print requests that have been launched by the installed software applications. This is not the case with the Mac OS Operating System platform which means that Graphics Device Interface emulation is not utilized in this case. The device driver also supports the execution of an interactive help utility to assist the computer user at run time. The execution of the onboard control panel switches and LED indicators are also supported by the device driver. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and Brother HL-5030 series errors before installing any driver updates.
