The Canon FS2700 device driver is a TWAIN compliant instruction file used to facilitate the setting up of the hardware component. Imaging devices like scanners and digital cameras essentially comply with the TWAIN standards but are formatted in such a way that drivers for the supported components cannot be interchanged. This means that even if two scanning hardware components are supported by the TWAIN technology, the computer user needs to use the appropriate device driver for each. This is required to make sure that all functionalities built into the hardware component by its manufacturer will be activated accordingly. In the same manner, the correct device drivers allows the computer user to accurately configure the hardware prior to any scanning operation. This process ensures that images resulting from the scanning process comply to the requirements of the computer user. This method also gives the computer user more flexibility in initiating the scan.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
Since one of the most important roles of the device driver is to make sure that all feature sets of the supported hardware component is activated, generic device drivers cannot be used. Essentially, there may be similar scanning devices that have device drivers similar to that provided for the Canon FS2700 which can activate the product but not make it fully functional. The manufacturer provided device driver allows for the usage of the film scanner functionality which is one of the more advanced feature sets associated with the device. This feature gives the computer user with a solution for scanning film negatives allowing to create a positive image from the film. The scanned negative can be stored and processed similar to any scanned document. Using compatible device drivers may allow the Canon FS2700 to implement scanning processes but may not activate its ability to scan film negatives. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and Canon FS2700 errors before installing any driver updates.
