The Datamax DMX 400 is a type of label printing device that makes use of direct thermal printing technology. Its device driver also supports the optional implementation of a thermal transfer label printing capability. The installation of the correct device driver allows it to support an RS-232 or RS-422 connection to the host computer system. The device driver also supports the operation of the indicator lights on the front panel. These indicator lights represent the Power, Paper or Ribbon, and the Pause functions. These indicator lights help to provide the computer user with a visual feedback on the device's current status. The device driver also communicates to the host operating system environment the physical status of the supported hardware component in order to properly control the flow of printing jobs. When the Datamax DMX 400 runs out of printer or ribbon the queued printing jobs are automatically placed on hold until the status reverts back to active mode.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
In order to further expand the built-in capabilities of the printing device, it makes use of dedicated printer memory. This memory module that is supported by the device driver is primarily dedicated to the storage of bitmaps for smooth fonts as well as graphic images. An expansion slot for memory module chips are also available. The font Read Only Memory modules that can be accommodated in the slot and supported by the device driver provides additional fonts which effectively extends the functionalities of the internal fonts. Every font ROM module is preconfigured at the factory by the manufacturer and cannot be altered in any way. An alternative is the use of Random Access Memory modules. The memory slot of the supported hardware component can support either 256 or 512 memory module chips. These types of memory chips supported by the device driver allows for better flexibility because of the storage of more data. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and Datamax DMX 400 errors before installing any driver updates.
