Dect Base station is the latest base station that is compliant with GAP and which has been introduced into the Nortel Networks Meridian DECT portfolio. The base station offers twelve radio channels providing 120 timeslots and can support a maximum of twelve simultaneous telephone conversations. Dect Base was created for use in supporting areas of a building where there is high telephone traffic level encounter. The new introduced C4610 complements C4600 which is a six base station and regarded as the standard base station for Meridian DECT installations. Its transmitter has frequency band 1880-1900 MHz and has ten carrier frequencies in addition to having a 12 TDM full duplex channel and output power maximum of 250 MW. Its receiver has a frequency band 1800-1900 MHz and its sensitivity is better than -88 dBm at BER of 10-3 and -75 dBm at BER of 10-5.

Dect Base is powered from Meridian 1 DMC/DMCE and has optional external power supply (230V AC Mains) with its power consumption being 3- 5 W. It conforms to DECT CTR6 and has antenna that has an impedance of 50 ohm. The installation methods utilized in the device are wall mounting and pole mounting. It is compatible with C4600 and C4610 and while wall mounting is standard, pole mounting is optional. Its operating temperature is between -25 and 60o Celsius, while the humidity is between 5-95%. It is UV radiation resistant and complies with IEC 695-2-1, EN 60529: IP66 and EN 50102: IK 10. Dect Base is housed in ABS plastic which is dark mushrooming grey in color. Its physical dimensions are 235 X 170 X 44 mm and it weighs 800 g. Users of Dect Base should always use the latest version of the device driver as this will enable them to use its functions easily.
