The Digital Blue QX5™ Microscope is capable of recording and capturing videos and images on compatible personal computer systems. The role of the device driver for this microscope is to make sure that its supported device will be readily recognized by a computer system once it is connected to it. It also serves as a communication avenue for the software applications, the operating system and the microscope. This microscope employs a VGA resolution of 640 X 480 for streaming processes to a computer system and magnification feature of 200X, 60X and 10X. The Digital Blue QX5™ Microscope uses Twin ‘Superbrite’ LEDs as its light source and a memory that is direct to the computer system, based on the system’s memory capacity. Video playback with the microscope is approximately 15 fps (frames per second). Its measurements include width of 6.5 inches, length of 4.75 inches and a height of 10.5 inches.

The complete package of the Digital Blue QX5™ Microscope include the microscope, a microscope stand, a USB cable, Petri dishes, specimen jars, tweezers, sample slide, slide clip, eye dropper and a software. For this device to function properly in a computer system, requirements include a Windows XP, ME, 2000 or Vista 32 bit operating system, a 200 MHz processor or higher and 32 MB of RAM. The computer system where the Digital Blue QX5™ Microscope will be used also has to have 150 MB of available hard disk space, a 4X CD-ROM drive and an SVGA resolution of 800 X 600 video support with a minimum of 16 bit color. The microscope also requires a USB interface and a 16 bit sound device that is Windows compatible.
