The DOT4 Mass Storage Class Bridge for IOS device is utilized in conjunction with various HP Officejet printer devices. The DOT4 protocol implemented by this device enables devices that are part of a MFP (multifunction peripheral) to simultaneously transmit and accept multiple packets of data over a physical channel to other devices also on the MFP. Every data exchange is not dependent on each other in order that when one cancels, it will not affect the others that are still ongoing. One MFP example is the Officejet printer product line by HP. The Officejet devices contain a printer, fax and scanner all in one compact machine. The DOT4 protocol is defined in the IEEE 1284.4 specification, an enhancement of the first IEEE 1284 specification for parallel ports on desktop computer systems. Although there are lots of MFP devices that still utilize parallel ports, there is a significant shift to USB (Universal Serial Bus) for hi-speed connection of devices.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
In the Windows 2000 operating system platforms, Microsoft provides bus drivers for devices using the DOT4, a function that is system supplied, and the DOT4 driver itself. The driver for DOT4 abstracts the IEEE 1284.4 specification and utilizes a device compliant with the DOT4 protocol in certain ways. For accessing a DOT4 service, a client should open a function of DOT4, make the service a DOT4 socket, and open a channel for the DOT4 in the socket. A function for DOT4 has support for 1 or more DOT4 services or subfunctions. A DOT4 device is a PnP parent device capable of supporting 1 or more DOT4 functions of PnP child devices. The driver for DOT4 operates a local bus that is independent for every DOT4 device installed in the host computer system. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and DOT4 Mass Storage Class Bridge for IOS errors before installing any driver updates.
