The scanner driver for the EPSON Expression 636 is generally responsible for the operation of the device. Essentially, a scanner (and similar imaging devices) requires the presence of TWAIN which is the software driver for the EPSON Expression 636. TWAIN delivers the interface required for the hardware and the software program to understand each other. The installation of the driver basically allows for the separation of both the hardware and the software components of the scanning operation. This means that the imaging software does not necessarily need the commands to manipulate the operation of the EPSON Expression 636. In the same manner that the EPSON Expression 636 does not have to embed commands that are required by the imaging software. The driver bundled with the EPSON Expression 636 is explicit to this device and cannot be used with another scanner.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
Taking the computer user's point of view, the scanner driver for the EPSON Expression 636 delivers the user interface which is displayed on the monitor. This control allows the user to reconfigure the settings for resolution, scanning mode and brightness among others. The same interface is invoked when the user attempts to initiate a scanning operation from within another software program. In essence, the user has the freedom to select any image editing application but must use the software driver for the EPSON Expression 636 to complete the scanning. The scanning operation itself allows the scanner driver to send the captured image directly to the memory of the image editing application. This is how the image automatically displays within the workspace of the editing program after the scan is completed. Once this step is finished, post processing can be done. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and EPSON Expression 636 errors before installing any driver updates.
