Windows device driver information for Epson FX-880

The Epson FX-880 driver is designed for use in the corresponding driver. The driver can be installed on windows 3.1, 95 and Windows NT while using a parallel interface or windows 98, 2000 and windows ME when using either the parallel or USB interfaces. The printer uses a 9-pin dot matrix printing method with four different modes that apply different printing speeds. The printer uses bi-directional or unidirectional printing methods in both text and graphics. To select any of these modes, the user needs to use software commands in the device manager. For this to happen however, the user needs to install the device drivers properly, which ultimately enable the right communication between the printer and the host computer. The driver informs the operating system installed in the host computer of the printer's capabilities and functions thus enabling proper working between the two.

The Epson FX-880 is ideal for use over networks since it has both a USB and a parallel interface for networking purposes. The user can further supplement these two interfaces by installing additional interface card to expand the printer's network compatibility. Some of the card types compatible with this printer include a serial interface, intelligent serial interfaces, coax interface, a twinax interface, an IEEE parallel interface and a 10/100 base TX-print server. The line spacing executed by the FX-880 printer is 1/6 inch by default, but this too can be programmed using the printer software. In letter quality, the printer's resolution is 240 x 144 dpi default. The printer uses a black ribbon cartridge, which prints an approximated 5 million characters before replacement. The user can use applications to select the pitch and the font that he wants used on his document, although the printer has some five embedded fonts. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and Epson FX-880 errors before installing any driver updates.
