The External Smart One Voice Modem Serial Wave Device is a device used to describe an analog telephone data modem. It has a built-in capability of transmitting and receiving voice recordings over a phone line. Voice modems are used for telephony and answering machine applications. Similar to the Hayes command set used for data modems, in which the host PC instructs the modem via a series of commands known as AT commands, it presents a well-defined set of common voice AT commands that are somewhat constant throughout the industry. This modem does not 'lock up' or crash the host PC (more common with Win modems), unlike other modems. Other modems also have flow control bugs and other implementation bugs, possibly causing calls to hang, audio to skip, or audio to keep playing after an attempted abort.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
The External Smart One Voice Modem also has good audio characteristics. Some modems have an uncorrectable low signal volume that creates audio noise. They are also not able to recognize all, but only the best DTMF signals. Some modems do a pitiful job of recording, reporting silence or the end-of-call voltage reversal and detecting, which some applications need. This modem however is immune to these problems. The External Smart One Voice Modem has support for Caller ID, if needed. This is especially beneficial for users who require a caller ID since not all modem chipsets have caller ID. This is because the caller ID feature is under the category of extra components that are often omitted by various manufacturers for cost reasons. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and External Smart One Voice Modem Serial Wave Device errors before installing any driver updates.
