The HP Color LaserJet 2820 is a multifunctional all-in-one hardware component which is capable of handling printing, copying, and scanning tasks. It is built as a network ready multifunctional system by its manufacturer. These feature sets are supported and activated on the host computer system once the correct device driver is installed. Once properly installed in the host machine the computer user and the installed software applications gain access to the functionalities of the supported hardware component. It also allows for the execution of a software based control panel applet which provides the necessary control over the behavior of the multifunctional device during runtime. The device driver is likewise responsible for maintaining the communication layer between the host operating system environment and the supported hardware component. This ensures that all print jobs are properly sent, executed, and completed. The same communication layer is used by the HP Color LaserJet 2820 to send alerts and notifications to the host computer system.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
The device driver allows the supported hardware component to take advantage of two major printing languages, the Printer Control Language and the PostScript Language. These particular languages define how processed data will be printed out on the selected media. They also dictate the manner of execution and communication that is being implemented by the supported device during runtime. Essentially the Printer Control Language is considered as faster, simpler, and less expensive compared to its PostScript counterpart. However, it also supports fewer features hence less powerful than PostScript. The HP Color LaserJet 2820 and its associated device driver can implement Printer Control Language 5 which allows for intelligent font scaling, outline fonts, and implementation of vector graphics printing. The other supported Printer Control Language, PCL6, allows for the printing of data directly from a graphical user interface and management of stored fonts. The device driver which supports the PostScript language allows the HP Color LaserJet 2820 to be used in areas where high quality printing is demanded such as desktop publishing. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and HP Color LaserJet 2820 errors before installing any driver updates.
