The ISDN ComPort1 56K modem is developed and manufactured by Zyxel. It is a suitable solution for access to dial-up Internet with robust fax, data and voice features. It has support for the V.92 ITU specification and it is capable of running a maximum upstream rate of 48 Kbps and downstream rate of 56 Kbps. This modem is not only compliant with the industry protocols, but its upstream transfer speed is quicker as well. The ISDN ComPort1 56K modem is fully compatible with the serial connector RS-232 and employs automatic speed fall forward / fall back with quick retrains switching. It features an automatic fax or data call detection, voice compression and digitization and data compression, caller ID, distinct ring detection and error control. The modulation modes implemented by this modem include V92, V34, V34bis, V32, V32bis, V22bis, V23, V22, V21, Nell 03 and Bell 232A.

This modem employs the auto answer/ auto dial and answer/ originate operation modes and the command sets Extended AT and Full AT. The dialing type it uses are pulse and tone dialing, flow control of hardware CTS/ RTS and software XOFF/ XON, and a software programmable configuration setting with a memory storage that is non-volatile. The ISDN ComPort1 56K modem implements an asynchronous data rate (ADR) of Auto-baud 300 – 460.8 Kbps and a dial-up line 2 wire line type. Diagnostics include reporting for line condition and digital loop back, while its LED status indicator includes MR, DATA, HS and OH. The ISDN ComPort1 56K modem fax compatibility features include G3 Fax receive/send, V.27ter (2.4 Kbps – 4.8 Kbps), V.29 (7.2 Kbps – 9.6 Kbps), V.17 (7.2 Kbps – 14.4 Kbps) and the command sets Class 2.0 and EIA Fax Class.
