For DirectInput and Windows to recognize Logicool HID-Compliant device as a keyboard, its application top-level application must be declared to belong to Page (oxo1) of the Generic Desktop, and deploy( 0x06) usage keyboard or (0x07) keypad. A HID (Human Interface Device) keyboards report descriptor typically declares an Input of 8 bytes report size (6 key-array bytes, 1 reserved byte and 1 modifier byte) with an Output of 1 byte report size for LED (light-emitting diode) status indicators. This is inclusive of pads for bits that are unused. As per the requirements of Windows, the status indicators of LED are declared through the use of (0x08) LED Page. Any attribution of a requirement or behavior to the operating system of Microsoft Windows is applicable to the mapping layer of HID which is capable of transforming HID accounts into compatible input events with input legacy devices.

Logicool HID-Compliant Keyboard (106 keys) drivers are installed by first downloading the file from the manufacturers site and then saving it the computer then proceeding to unzip. The keyboard device is then connected to the computer followed by right clicking on My Computer and a click on Properties. The next step is proceeding to the Hardware tab where a click on the button for Device Manager finds the new keyboard device on a keyboard category. The new keyboard device should be double clicked and the button for Reinstall Driver pressed. Install should be selected from the specific location and check Include Location before clicking the Browse button for the Logicool driver to be selected. The Next button is clicked to proceed and the Finish button to end the installation. The new keyboard device should be seen in keyboard form in the Device Manager.
