Users can just connect the device to an available USB port either on a USB hub or computer and then follow its installation instructions on the screen. It does not require an internal card, which means that users can be instantly connected without having to open their computer systems. It also has Link and Power LEDs so that users are aware of network activity. The Netgear USB to Fast Ethernet Adapter is compatible and hot swappable with USB 2.0 and 1.1 hardware and functions effectively with notebook and desktop computers.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
Once the Netgear USB to Fast Ethernet Adapter device is connected to a USB 2 port, it is capable of connecting 10X faster than USB 1.1, delivering true 100 megabytes per second of network access. The USB 2.0 standard is a 480 megabytes per second technology but can provide true 100 megabytes per second of network access as opposed to 10 megabytes per second with the USB 1.1 standard. Since this device is fully compatible with USB 2 and USB 1.1 hardware, it is capable of enabling hot swapping and Plug and Play capabilities wherein users are not required to power down the computer system. Users are also enabled to use cables or alternate ports for the device and it will still function at its maximum speed whenever possible. The Netgear USB to Fast Ethernet Adapter is compatible with both the IEEE 802.3u 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet and the IEEE 802.3i 10BASE-T Ethernet specifications. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and USB TO FAST ETHERNET errors before installing any driver updates.
