The VIA Bus Master IDE controller enables quick connections between the host computer and the network. The ATA host adapters have been integrated onto motherboards to allow for speedier communication between the devices. The bus master IDE controller only allows communication with compatible disks. The design of the Bus Master controller enables the host computer to have a simpler command interface. The VIA Bus Master IDE Controller has a Basic Input Output feature (BIOS) that allows the Integrated Drive Electronics( IDE) to be able to undertake (DMA)Direct Memory Access transfers. Computer users who prefer having increased transfer speeds can be able to enable the BIOS feature. When this is done the BIOS uploads the 16-bit bus driver for the IDE controller. Enabling of the BIOS feature also ensures that the controller uses less portions of the CPU, thus freeing it up for other applications.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
If the Basic Input Output (BIOS) feature is not activated the BIOS cannot activate the 16-bit bus master driver. This has the effect of reducing the rate of transfer since the IDE controller will now transfer data using the PIO, which is slow. Computer users who have been experiencing problems with the bus master IDE Controller have been able to correct the issue by removing the bus controller using the Devices Manager menu. When the bus controller is removed, the operating system automatically reinstalls the driver after the computer is rebooted. The problem that was there will no longer be experienced. It is recommended that before users install the VIA Bus Master IDE Controller- 0571, they should have the recent update of the driver. Having old versions will cause problems between the Bus Controller and other computer devices. Before installing one is advised to set a system restore point, incase of any complications. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and VIA Bus Master IDE Controller 0571 errors before installing any driver updates.
